I would like to address a lot of the questions that we have. Certainly, a very valid question is, “What are the best type of heat emitters for your far infrared sauna?” We will
begin with showing you what a typical ceramic heater looks like. This is a ceramic tube. It’s hollow. We have an electrical coil inside that tube that when it’s heated, produces infrared energy. This was the standard, the state of the art, in the far infrared sauna industry for 20 plus years.
About five years ago, the advent of carbon panels came out and made this particular technology obsolete. Why? And I will discuss the major drawbacks of the ceramic heat emitters. The surface temperature of a ceramic heat emitter is over 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and yet this is placed in between the inside wall and the outside wall of your sauna so that you cannot lean back against this because it’s too hot. Even if they cover
this with a face plate, it’s still too hot, and you run the risk if you touch it inadvertently, it’s a safety issue. Any heat emitter puts out heat like this ceramic tube puts out infrared energy across its entire surface. So we are putting out energy coming out here in the front part of it, and yet we are also putting out energy that’s going to the back.
That’s why you see this little reflector tray that is supposed to reflect infrared energy and bounce it back. This doesn’t work very well because it interferes with the new energy that’s coming out of the tube. So the design itself is flawed.
So what we have, when we have two or three of these spaced across the back
of a far infrared sauna, is we have hot spots and cold spots. Hot spots and cold spots.
So it makes it very difficult to turn around and relax. So, the efficiency of the ceramic tubes is poor. The safety of it because of the heat factor makes it unsafe to a degree. Certainly the comfort of it. And the last thing is, these ceramic tubes are a poor quality of ceramic. You can see on the bottom of this tube how it’s already starting to erode from the heat that comes into it, the impurities come out. So the life cycle of a typical ceramic heat emitter is somewhere between four and six or seven years. Not very good for the money that you’ve invested in a far infrared sauna.
Now the next type of heat emitter that has come forward in the last four or five years for an infrared sauna, is a carbon panel. This is a thin carbon panel with a reflective back. What this is is a carbon plate that has proprietary minerals and elements impregnated into the black portion, surrounded by a substrate that’s nontoxic, and is very similar to the composition of what you would use to make a printed circuit board. We mount these black panels inside the wall. They have a very even exposure and a much lower surface temperature. The surface temperature on your carbon panels will run anywhere from 140 to 165 degrees. So we have a much more efficient product. We have a much more comfortable product, because you can lean right up against the back rest anywhere in the sauna and be safe and comfortable. The durability of the product is 30,000 hours. That’s an hour a day of use, every day, for the next 75 years. So we have a product that is safe. It’s efficient, 95 to 98% efficient to produce 8 to 12 microns. The bandwidth of far infrared energy that matches our body. Safe, efficient, durable, and comfortable. And that’s the advantages of the new carbon panels over the old style ceramic.
